MINDvsMOUNTAIN: The Rebuild [Video]

Hey guys,

I filmed a MINDvsMOUNTAIN update video for you. What I’ve been up to for the past few months, updates on personal fitness and my dream to climb Everest.

For those of you new here, MINDvsMOUNTAIN is a project created to raise awareness of mental health and shatter the myth that you can’t pursue big dreams while living with mental illness.

In 2007 I was admitted to the hospital after a suicide attempt and diagnosed with schizophrenia. In the following months, I was devastated with my prospects for my future.

But the people around me wouldn’t let me sit around and feel sorry for myself for long and soon I started to wonder… what was possible, what would I do if I did recovery… what kind of strength do I have inside me?

Two dreams emerged… one was that if I ever recovered, I would start an organization to support other youth and young adults who struggle with their mental health and the other was to climb Mt Everest.

That was in 2007.

MINDvsMOUNTAIN later emerged as a way to make it happen.

Last year, I climbed North and South America’s mountains (Denali and Aconcagua respectively) and then… well, watch the video below for what’s happened since and where I’m at now…
