How To Find Motivation While Living With Mental Illness

“What would your advice be if someone was dealing with a mental illness and how to stay motivated”


This is a question I was asked at a recent conference I was speaking at.

While motivation can be hard when struggling with mental illness, it’s an important component of recovery.

They say you can’t help someone that doesn’t want to get better, and in my observations that’s largely true.


That doesn’t mean that if you’re not motivated today, you have to stay stuck there.

Here’s my response to the question and some thoughts on what has helped me stay motivated through the up’s and down’s of living with mental illness…
