“DREAMS ARE ONE OF THE MOST UNDER-UTILIZED RESOURCES OF OUR WORLD”
Last week, I had the opportunity to team up with the RCMP to co-MC and speak at their mental health awareness event in Williams Lake, British Columbia.
Flying up the day before, I was nervous about my speech and quickly realized I had forgotten my laptop charger. Thankfully a colleague had one to lend me and the speech was well received.
One of the most interesting parts of the 2 day trip – apart from hearing from locals about the activities happening there – was speaking to the RCMP folks about how the organization operates.
We discussed the difference between cities with RCMP vs municipal police forces and the influencing factors that guide mayors and city councils in their decisions; how the RCMP is funded (mostly Federal and Provincial and some municipal) and the difference between the federal police in Canada (RCMP) vs the US (FBI).
After a full day of Co-MC’ing, I got to share some stories and ideas around mental health promotion and wellness strategies.
The first story I shared was about the power of dreams and how they can be used in a mental health context.
I’ve included that part of the speech below.
